setup

Because of the modular construction is it possible to set up pipeSound in different ways.
At our first exhibition we set it up as shown in the picture on the right.
· four sound modules (S1-S4)
· one base module (B)
· one live module (L)
Steps 01-04 describe the function of the sound modules.
You can also find a description of the base- and live modules.
record

step 01
To record a sound press the record button (rec.) and make some kind of sound or noise. Press the button as long as you want to record a sample. When you release the button the recording stops and the sound is saved inside the module.
volume

step 02
To turn the volume (vol.) up or down use the lever on the very left of each module.
play-back

step 03.1
Press or tap the touch pad to play the recorded sound once. This way you can use it similar to a drum.

step 03.2
The loop button (loop) allows you to play-back the sound continuously.
manipulate

step 04.1
To change the pitch move the slider on the microphone tube up and down.

step 04.2
Use the lever next to volume to add some echo to the sound.

step 04.3
Beneath the touch pad there are three filter switches, which add sound effects.

For more complex compositions one can use the base module to set a rhythmic structure. This structure can
be transferred to the other modules to synchronize the tracks.
base module
On the base module there is also a button to record sound and regulators to shift the pitch and change the volume. There is the possibility to add breaks or silence while recording. The length of the track is crucial, when you want to synchronize the other module to the base module. You can do this by pressing the sync button, which is located on each sound module.
live module
This module leaves room for spontaneous improvisation. The sound is not recorded, but routed directly to the output. There are only two switches to add filter effects, which opens up the the opportunity to place some highlights.
